From Below is a brand new game for the Nintendo Entertainment System, released in November 2020.
It is the first game I ever made for the NES, and took 3 months to create, start to finish (May 2020 – August 2020). It was written in C using CC65, and was built on top of “neslib” by Shiru, and the “nesdoug library” by Doug Fraker. After the game was finished I spent another 3 months putting together a limited edition physical copy; complete with box, manual and cart.
On November 9th, 2020 at 9AM PT, 50 copies went on sale for $80CAD + Shipping, and in less the 20 minutes had completely sold out! This limited edition always had the stipulation of being 100 units (50 now, and 50 later), so some day, the remaining 50 would be built and sold.
A year later, on October 28th, 2021 at 9AM PT, the final 50 copies went on sale for $90CAD (including shipping). Once again, these sold out quite quickly (in less than 10 minutes this time). Instead of using eBay to sell these copies, like I did on the first batch, this time I sold direct via http://matthughsongames.bigcartel.com/ to avoid paying eBay fees. These copies were produced, assembled, and shipped by Broke Studio.
